SUBMISSIONS FOR ISSUE 0.5 (out April 11th, 2025) will receive a response time of 24 hours or less. Additionally, writers and artists selected for publication in Issue 0.5 will receive a $10 gift card sent from American Greetings. Submissions for issue 0.5 close April 6th, 2025.

Submit 1 to 5 poems, 1 short story (up to 3000 words), 1-3 pieces of artwork, or 1 piece of creative nonfiction (up to 3000 words) based on music (a song, album, artist, artist’s discography, music video, type of instrument, style of music, you name it) to counterpointlit@gmail.com. Counterpoint accepts unpublished work, work published on social media, work published in now-defunct journals, and previously published work if you retain the rights.

Please include a short cover letter with the name of the pieces you’re submitting, the name of the music, artist, instrument, or style of music that inspired your work, and a short third-person bio.

We aim to respond within a week.

Bigotry of any type (racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism, xenophobia, religious prejudice) will not be tolerated.

Issue 0.5 will be published April 11th, 2025. Our first full issue, Issue 1, will be published on May 16th, 2025. Submissions for Issue 1 close on May 11th, 2025

We will accept submissions for our second issue, Music of the Sea, from June 1-July 15th with a publication date of August 1st!
